PROBLEM SOLVING : LINEAR MOTION EQUATIONS

1. A car starts from rest and accelerates uniformly and after travels at distance 45m the velocity of the car is 20 ms-1 . What is the time taken?

2. A car starts from rest and accelerates uniformly . If the distance reached is 900 m after travels in 30 s, calculate the acceleration of the car.

3. A car moves with a velocity 40 ms-1 . After the brakes of the car is applied ,it moves 100 m more before coming to rest. Calculate the deceleration of the car.

4. A rocket starts at velocity 2500 ms-1 and accelerates uniformly upwards at 20 ms-2 What is the velocity of the rocket after 4 minutes.

MOMENTUM

Momentum is the product of mass and velocity.

Momentum = mass x velocity

p = m x v

TRY THESE :

1.Car A of mass 100 kg traveling at 30 m s-1 collides with Car B of mass 90 kg traveling at 20 m s-1 in front of it. Car A and B move separately after collision. If Car A is still moving at 25 m s-1 after collision, determine the velocity of Car B after collision. (answer : )

2.A bullet of mass 2 g is shot from a gun of mass 1 kg with a velocity of 150 m s-1 . Calculate the velocity of the recoil of the gun after firing. (anaswer : )

PRINCIPLE OF CONSERVATION OF MOMENTUM

1. State this principle.
2. Can u differentiate between elastic collision and inelastic collision.
